Things We Don’t Do Anymore

This article is a little different, in the sense that its not entirely about football, but more about what life used to be for many of us as youngsters and how much it has changed for me as a 44-year old adult.

With that said, in today’s day and age, thanks to the great advances in broadband availability across the world, we as football fans are spoilt with instant goal and game updates on our computers, phones, watches and tablets. We are constantly Tweeting, Instagramming, Facebooking, going onto YouTube to see videos of our favourite players and teams; it basically has consumed our entire world.

If I take my 14-year old son as an example, technology is all he knows. I refer to the good old days where I used a map for directions, played a vinyl record on my Dad’s expensive record player or went running with my huge CD player attached to my waist (man I was so cool), had bricks for a cell phone… All I get from him is a weird look, a huge laugh with a sarcastic comment of “You are so old-fashioned Dad”.

Fuck, what my life has become. “I’m old fashioned”; I think I’m a pretty cool cat…hahaha!

For a list of things we no longer do because of the wonderful world of technological advances we live in, check this out. Not going to lie…some old-fashioned things I’m quite happy to see gone and I don’t have to torture myself with them anymore. Others, well, I actually do miss them a little.
